Best Protein Shakes For Weight Loss: 5 (Feel Full) Options

I like to make myself a smoothie every morning for breakfast.  Of course, sometimes life gets in the way.  When I'm in a hurry, or traveling and I don’t have my blender.  That is when I grab one of my favorite protein shakes and I don’t miss a beat.

Ready to drink shakes are convenient, and they are a great option if you are looking to replace meals or unhealthy snacks with something better.

Protein shakes are great if you are trying to add some muscle and working hard in the gym trying to bulk up, but what about if you are trying to lose weight?

It is true that protein is great for promoting muscles.  While you might not want to get bigger, you should know that lean muscle mass can help you burn more calories throughout your day.

Even if you have zero interest in your muscles, protein helps fill you up and keep you from loading up on empty and unsatisfying calories.  That have you looking in the fridge an hour later.

What sets the best protein shake for weight loss apart from rest?

I like to look for something with at least 15 grams of protein per serving.  I aim even higher with at least 20-25 grams of protein if I am currently on a weight lifting program.

Now protein is the most important nutritional component, but you also want to make sure there isn’t too much sugar.  I also like something with some fat and fiber to help keep me feeling full longer.

Calories are also something I look at. Mostly just to decide if a shake is a meal replacement, or if it is a snack between meals, to keep me from eating something I will regret.

This is a great option as a meal replacement, and it tastes good too.

This is my second favorite, very close to the top option with a good amount of protein, and a little lighter on the calories, and carbohydrates.

  • 40 grams of protein
  • 220 calories total
  •  25 calories from fat
  • 9 grams of carbohydrates
  • 2 grams of sugar
  • 2 grams of fiber

This is also a good meal replacement option.

This is an interesting product, that is popular online. It is USDA organic certified. I also like that they use vegetables and brown rice as their source of carbohydrates. It has less protein than the options above it, but my major concern with it is the amount of sugar.

At 12 grams it has too much sugar for my liking.

  • 16 grams of organic protein
  • 255 calories total
  • 60 calories from fat
  • 32 grams of carbohydrates
  • 12 grams of sugar
  • Complex carbohydrates from brown rice, spinach, kale, beets, and tomatoes
  • 2 grams of fiber

Unless you have been living in a cave somewhere you have heard of the high protein Atkins Diet.

I like the 80 fat calories in this shake, it helps keep you full and satisfied.

  • 15 grams of protein
  • 160 calories total
  • 80 calories from fat
  • 6 grams of carbohydrates
  • 1 grams of sugar
  • 4 grams of fiber

This shake is a little light on the protein compared to the EAS Myoplex or Cytosport . However, it has fewer calories as well, making it a good snack replacement option.

5. Core Power High Protein Milk Shake, Chocolate Light

I have to say the best thing about this shake is the taste. It is like drinking chocolate milk!

Unfortunately all that good taste doesn’t come for free.  There are 11 grams of sugar in each bottle, and that is the light version!

  • 20 grams of protein
  • 150 calories total
  • 30 calories from fat
  • 13 grams of carbohydrates
  • 11 grams of sugar
  • 2 grams of fiber

Other than the sugar, I do like the rest of what is in this drink.  If you are looking for something that tastes great, this might be worth a try.

Protein shakes can be a great option if you are looking for an easy way to replace meals or less healthy snacks.

I hope you have enjoyed my protein shake for weight loss reviews, give one of them a try and see how it works for you.
