Reviews Of The Best Engel Ice Chest Coolers For Sale
Engel ice chests and coolers have been some of the most popular coolers around for a long time, and with good reason. Engel has been making coolers for more than half a century and they continue to refine their designs to optimize for performance, appearance and endurance.
Their Roto-Molded coolers represented a great leap forward in redefining what a rugged cooler should be with a number of other cooler brands following in their wake. Here are five of what we feel are some of the best Engel coolers for sale today.
Engel Coolers Reviews
When Engel use the term “high performance” to describe the DeepBlue range of coolers they don’t use the term lightly. We were blown away by how long this ice chest kept ice frozen. If you intend camping for a week or so then these coolers are going to keep you in cold beer right up to the end.
These coolers are big so it’s not something you want to be carrying around too much although the handles do make it pretty easy to transport. It’s the kind of cooler that you find a spot for in your camping site, throw the ice in and then just leave it there until it’s home time. This product is bound to be at the top of most Engel cooler reviews out there.
The USA Cooler / Dry Box coolers from Engel have incredible seals and clips which ensure that these coolers are 100% air and water tight. Whether you’re carrying food, ice or bait, there’s no chance of liquid or odors leaking out.
Because the seal is so good these work great to keep stuff like your mobile phone or other electronics dry if you’re going out on the water. This cooler comes in a few sizes and is ideal for short trips like a day out fishing or even for a lunch cooler. It’s not going to stay cold for a week but in this size and weight class it’s our favorite.
Ok, so it looks like a weird cross between a handbag from the 60’s and a backpack but if you’re looking for a cooler you can carry on a hike or something to take to a picnic or the beach then this is our favorite.
The 23 quart cooler holds up to 24 cans of drinks and will keep ice for up to 3 days. The padding and straps are really comfortable and make this an ideal cooler for hiking for a few days. We especially like that the inner lining is removable which makes it a pleasure to clean after your trip.
So you won’t be reaching into this cooler for your lunch but if you’re a keen fisherman and you want to keep your live bait, well, alive, then this is the cooler for you.
The difference between this and the regular Cooler/Dry box is that it has a 2-speed air pump that keeps the water aerated to make sure your bait stays fresh, lively and happy. Until they go on the hook that is. The gasket and clips ensure a good watertight seal so you won’t be splashing bait water in your car or boat and the materials they use for the lid and base won’t be absorbing any of those odours either.
If you absolutely have to ensure ice stays frozen regardless of the ambient temperature then you can’t go wrong with one of the powered ice chest fridge / freezers Engel make.
The MR040F-U1 is our pick in the powered range. What makes it really cool is that it can run off a 12V / 24V DC supply or 110V / 120V AC mains power. It runs really efficiently and only draws around 1A to 2.5A (depending on temperature setting) when the compressor is on which makes it ideal if you’re running it from a small solar panel. Combine this fridge / freezer with a deep cycle battery and add it to your camping kit.
Whatever the application, there’s an Engel ice chest or cooler that’s perfect for the job. Whether it’s a generic cooler for keeping ice frozen for days or something more specific like a cooler to keep live bait these guys have thought of it all.
While Engel have been around for a long time they haven’t rested on their laurels but seem to keep pushing the envelope in the design of their products. They aren't the guys to go to for a simple wheeled cooler to take to a barbecue but when it comes to keeping ice, there's no one better. When reading Engel cooler reviews we keep seeing how happy customers confirm this fact. Their products aren’t the cheapest but they are by no means the most expensive. Every time we’ve bought one of their products and used them for a while we always felt that we got great value for our money.
