Eating A Healthier Breakfast Can Really Help Shrink Your Waistline

We all remember the famous saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's vital to have not only a filling breakfast but a healthier one, to keep you sustained for your working day.

If you are trying to lose weight, do not skip breakfast but instead make healthier choices. Below we look through some ideas to help you on your weight loss adventure.

Drinking Water

Start your day right by drinking a pint of water before taking on any other liquids or food. We should all be drinking roughly one and a half litres of water a day and a lot of us struggle with doing this.

Drinking a pint of water as soon as you wake up helps with getting that one and a half litre water intake straight away. We often confuse thirst and dehydration with hunger. Drinking lots of water is excellent for weight loss as it helps keep up filled up for longer, and you won’t start snacking, when really what you need is a glass of water.

Quick Breakfast

If you find your mornings very rushed and you struggle to make breakfast, then using an instant pot recipe for breakfast is a great idea.

If you know you don't have enough time in the morning to prepare breakfast, pre-plan what you are going to eat the night before. This will save you time and stress, and running around like a headless chicken in the morning.

Start Your Five A Day Early

Like with drinking a pint of water first thing to help your intake of water, why not start your day off with some fruit to help with your five a day intake? Fruits are a quick and easy breakfast as you can eat the fruit just as it is, or combine it with yoghurt or cereal.

Fruits like bananas can help with your energy levels which is exactly what you need first thing in the morning to get going.

Caffeine

Nearly everyone needs some kind of caffeine kick to start their day, whether it is tea or coffee. Try to avoid energy drinks that are full of caffeine as they often are addictive and have lots of hidden sugar. Instead, stick to your cup of morning tea or coffee.

Although caffeine really helps give us a kick in the morning, try not to have too much of it. Stick to one or two cups so as not to become too dependent on the caffeine energy they give us. Also, try to have them without milk or sugar to lower the calories within them.

For every cup of coffee or tea you have in the morning try to have one glass of water alongside them.

Cereal

A high percentage of us eat cereals with milk for breakfast every day. A lot of cereal though, has many hidden sugars inside them, even some of the more well-known cereal brands.

Try and choose the healthier cereals that have lesser sugars in them such as oatmeal, porridge and full bran. These types of cereals are not only healthier but they will also keep you fuller for much longer than cereals with lots of sugar.

Try and replace the milk you use in your breakfast cereal for low-fat options or healthy yogurts. Remember we are trying to help our waistlines, so making the right choices is very important.

Add seeds, nuts or healthy fruit to your cereal such as chia seeds or pecan nuts, to help bulk up the meal.

Eggs For Breakfast

If you have enough time in the morning, cooking eggs for breakfast is a great healthy option. Packed with lots of vital vitamins and rich in protein, eggs are a great option for your first meal of the day.

Poached or boiled eggs are the healthiest way to cook your eggs, try to avoid fried eggs as this uses a lot of oil which can be very fattening.

Try to avoid eating toast or bread with your eggs. Why complement each other with your taste buds? Bread is very high in carbohydrates which in turn can convert into fat. Instead, try having your eggs plain or with some vegetables on the side such as spinach or tomatoes.

Smoothies

Smoothies can be a good option for breakfast for those wanting to lose weight. Although this really depends on the ingredients you use for them.

They can be quick and easy to prepare which is great if you do not have much time in the mornings.

Make sure you are only using natural sugars in the smoothie from the fruits that you are making the smoothie from, as too much sugar intake can lead to a wider waistline.

Fruits are always better eaten as it is as they will retain much more of the fiber and vitamins compared to breaking them down in a smoothie. But, if you dislike eating it plain, then a smoothie can help with getting those vital vitamins inside your body.

Avocados

Recently more and more people have started eating avocados with their breakfast. The reason being is because it is full of good fats and is great for helping to make your waistline thinner.

It is a fruit that works well with eggs, bread, bagels and most other types of breakfast meals. It's a great side dish to add alongside whatever you decide on eating for breakfast.

Rounding It Up

Losing weight doesn't have to be so difficult and disturbing if you make healthier choices. You do not need to starve yourself or skip on breakfast.

By doing a little research on the food you are taking in and making some preparations beforehand, you will soon start to lose those inches around your waistline.

Remember everything is in moderation, so if on one morning you fancy that fatty fry up, then go for it as life is for living. Just remember the next day to try and make a healthier choice to balance your breakfast diet.
