The Top Three Easy Things You Can Do to Lose Weight Permanently
According to the experts, an average weight loss of 1 to 2 kilograms a week is considered healthy – and more than this, if you lose this much and maintain a steady pace, you are more likely to keep it off.
Most of us have admittedly gone for fad diets before – from Paleo to Keto diets to juicing and detox diets; it seems there is a diet out there, no matter your preference!
But if you may have noticed, all these diets have one thing in common: they don’t last. Sure, they may work for a while, but once you have returned to your regular routine (and your regular diet), the pounds will gradually creep in again. But never fear; hope is here! Here are the top three easy things you can do to lose weight permanently.
1. Get an adequate amount of shut-eye
Most people get by on an average of five hours of sleep each night and are (somewhat) fine. But the experts will tell you once again that the recommended hours of sleep is from seven to eight, even longer in some cases.
But there’s more to a good night’s sleep than meets the eye: when you get an adequate amount of sleep, you are not likely to have insane cravings, particularly for something salty or sweet – in other words, junk food.
Sleep deprivation affects our hormones, and when you are deprived of sleep, you tend to eat more and are not-as-satisfied with the food you eat. So instead of eating healthy food – such as fruits and vegetables – you may go for calorie-rich foods and foods high in refined carbs.
But how will you know if you get enough rest, as some people require more, and some require less? It’s simple: you know you’ve had enough sleep when you wake up and feel refreshed and rejuvenated rather than moody and grumpy.
2. Don’t skip breakfast
A lot of us have gotten into the habit of skipping breakfast – but this is a wrong habit because it is the healthiest meal of the day. It seems like our parents and grandparents got it right in the first place. Even if you’ve received Aqualyx fat-dissolving injections (which are very effective, by the way), you still can’t deprive yourself of breakfast.
And here’s the thing: when you have breakfast, make it a point to eat it mindfully and methodically – don’t just gulp or gobble it down. Even though you may be in a hurry to get to work, take the time to eat breakfast, even if you have to wake up earlier than usual or eat it at work.
3. Adjust your screen time
Let’s admit: we often complain that we don’t have enough time to exercise, shop for our meals, and cook them ourselves. Life is just too hectic. But what if you spend the time you normally spend staring at your screen (be it the television screen or your smartphone screen) and devote it instead to physical activity, like cooking or jogging?
How many hours each day or each week do you spend sitting in front of the TV like a couch potato, and how much time do you waste playing games on the computer? It doesn’t mean you have to quit altogether – just scale it back and dedicate the extra time to your efforts to lose weight.
